Gerhard’s career has centred on complex systems where public purpose, commercial logic and technological change need to work together.

After more than 20 years at Samtrafiken—including 19 years as CEO—he has first-hand experience of creating shared infrastructure, agreements and governance across Sweden’s public transport ecosystem.

His work has involved authorities, regional and national interests, public and commercial operators, technology providers and organisations that also compete with one another. The common task has been to create value for the passenger while respecting different mandates and incentives.

Today, Gerhard brings that experience to organisations facing the next structural shifts in mobility: increasingly open rail markets, autonomous transport, new business models and changing public roles.
